The college offers a wide variety of extra curricular from sports to arts, culture and social outreach. We all pupils to become involved in one of the many offer. Team sports help in the development of co-operation and loyalty, all of which are important skills life. Experience success, coping with failure, dealing teachers in less formal relationship combine to enhance the growth of self-esteem and self confidence.

Sport

 

Rugby
The College is very active in Rugby. We have three teams that take part all the competitions organised the IRFU. We have had many successes and achievements. We are supported and helped by the Skerries RFU.

GAA
GAA is very popular in the school with both boys and girls. We take part in all school competitions and have achieved various levels of success.

Soccer
We play both boys and girls soccer and have been very successful over the years – particularly girls soccer when we were All Ireland Champions three years in a row.

Hockey
The College has a long tradition of involvement with hockey. We have teams from 1st Year to 6th Year. We have had many successes over the years and we hope to continue with this success into the future.

Basketball
Both Boys and Girls Basketball teams have been very successful. We have won the Leinster Championship on a few occasions.

The College also have teams representing it in: Golf, Sailing, Badminton, Camogie, Table Tennis, Athletics and Cricket.

Sports Clubs in Skerries support the work of the College in many of the above sports.

Code of Conduct for Students Participating in Sport

1. The ethos of Sport in the College encourages success but it values wholeheartedly the participation of students where they develop skills and strive to achieve their full potential.

2. Involvement in sport should enhance school life and never detract from academic performance.

3. Students are expected to follow the rules of the sport in which they participate.

4. Students should show loyalty to the College, and are expected to fully commit themselves to their chosen sport(s), and support their teacher/coach and panel for the duration of the season.

5. If a student undertakes to play for a "team" he/she must attend all training sessions, matches etc. If they are unable to attend, adequate notice of this must be given to the teacher/coach beforehand and approval granted.

6. At a sports fixture no student may leave Grounds except in exceptional circumstances and then only with the permission of the teacher/coach in charge.

7. Students who miss class due to involvement in sport are obliged to complete classwork and homework assigned in their absence.

8. College Sports Department strongly advise that all students take out the "Personal Accident Insurance Scheme" available in the College until the end of September only.

9. If a student has or develops an injury/illness or during a sports event/fixture it is imperative /condition that the prior student to inform their teacher/coach immediately.

10. All Students must supply whatever kit or sports gear is specified by their coach; the use of protective gear e.g. gumshield/helmet/shinguards etc., where appropriate to particular sports is recommended.

11. School uniforms must be worn to all sports events unless otherwise specified.

12. All Participants and spectators are expected to be on their best sporting behaviour at all time.

13. Students travelling to and from sports fixtures must at all times behave in an appropriate and polite manner.

14. All students involved in sport are obliged to make an extra special effort to fundraise for the Annual School Walk, as the money raised pays the transport, some equipment, affiliation and entry costs for all College Sports.

15. Any serious breach of this "Code of Conduct" will be dealt with by any one or more of the following: Teacher / Coach, College Sports Department and / or College Authorities.
